- Day 8 (August 4, 2001) - Still in Cincinnati (technically we are just across the river from Cincinnati, in Northern Kentucky.)
No picture updates today. Ikuko and I are just hanging out with my family and regrouping
a bit after a week on the road.

- Day 9 (August 5, 2001) - Today was a busy day. First I helped my mom a bit with an invention she's been working on
(more on that later...) After that, I finally shaved off the beard that I grew while studying for the bar exam. Then, we went out
to see my sister Kim show one of her horses in a horse show. It was a horse that she just recently broke in herself (she is a horse
trainer) and it was the horse's first show. He did really well. After that we went to my father's house for dinner and for a
bluegrass jam session with all of his musician friends.

- Day 10 (August 6, 2001) - Today was a relatively uneventful day of shopping and restocking supplies for the rest of
the trip. We'll probably be heading out of Cincinnati toward Detroit on Wednesday.

|
- Day 11 (August 7, 2001) - Today we went out to my sister's house to see her horses and go for a quick ride.

 |
|
- Day 12 (August 8, 2001) - Our last day in Cincinnati was spent planning a small surprise birthday party for Kim
(who's birthday is August 11th.)

|
- Day 13 (August 9, 2001) - Today we reloaded the car and headed north for Detroit. On the way we stopped at my stepfather
Carl's office, stopped to take a few photos downtown where Ikuko and I got married almost 4 years ago, and then made a stop at my
mother's office before hitting the road. We made it to Detroit at about 10pm and turned in in Livonia, Michigan just outside of Detroit.

- Day 14 (August 10, 2001) - We spent most of the day chasing memories. We first went to Troy, Michigan where we found the house
and later the 2 condominiums that I lived in from the age of about 4 to 13. We also found the two elementary schools I went to and the middle
school I was attending when my family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. It really brought back a lot of memories. Next, we dug a little deeper into
the past and headed for Howell, Michigan. There we found Schrepfer Road where my ancestors settled long ago after immigrating to
Michigan from Bavaria, Germany and we even found my great great grandparents' graves in the local cemetary.
